Dream Journal #9

The beginning of the dream has been lost to day light, however the end is still clear as…

I was out somewhere, blurred visions of a middle-eastern bazaar or restaurant. I had to go to the bathroom which was on a different floor. The only way up was to use a utility elevator. When I got inside I noticed that there were only two buttons, one up and one down. Above was hanging a single light bulb which put out a weak yellow light. Written in black marker on the wall above the buttons were crazy rantings, like something you would see on the walls of an insane asylum. They mentioned something about a scary thing. The doors of the elevator closed and I hit the down button. The room around me vibrated and clanged. It seemed like it went one floor down, I assumed the basement. The doors opened to a dark hallway with many doors on either side, sort of like a school hallway. One of them was open and the light coming out of the room was the only source of light for the hallway. Something in the room moved towards the open doorway causing the hallway to go dim. It cast a human shaped shadow on the adjacent wall. I knew this was a bad place to be so I quickly hit the up button and the elevator doors closed. The room vibrated and clanged for a minute then the doors opened to a spacious room which looked like a European palace's lounge. High ceiling, dark wood, giant windows, red curtains, fire place, elegant couches. Above the fire place was a massive mahogany sculpture of curved, rounded, wood pieces lying across and over-top each other creating a deep, complex, tangled web. This had a bigger, mirrored sister sculpture in the center of the floor. In the far corner was a door to the bathroom and to get there I had to walk on the floor sculpture. It was hard to stay on the top wood pieces and not trip and fall into the lower web tangles. I stayed to the thicker beams. I got to the corner and opened the bathroom door. The room looked more like a British library than a bathroom. The floor was white tile but everything else was made from wood. The walls, stalls, sinks, etc. There was only one other person in there, he was in one of the stalls. I walked over to the far corner to pee in an old fashion toilet: a porcelain bowl with a wooden seat. When I was done I walked over to a wooden barrel filled with water to wash my hands. The water was dark and as I dipped my hands in it stirred up something from the bottom. Before it came to the surface, the other man came up behind me and asked me a question. I turned around and answer him. He had on wired rimed glasses and was dressed in a tweed coat. We talked for a few minutes about the wars around the world.

Then I woke up.
